If you want to lose weight, then, unfortunately, you cannot avoid exercise and sport. Everyone should choose a sport that they also enjoy, because otherwise, you will usually give up the fight again quickly.

If you are very overweight, however, there can also be problems with exercise, because the joints are sometimes heavily stressed. In this case, it is best to move in the water, as this is gentle on the joints, but also on the hips and spine.

Aqua fitness has many positive effects on the body

More and more people are discovering aqua fitness for themselves. This form of exercise is suitable for every age group and also helps heavyweights to get started in the world of sports and thus also to lose weight. In addition, the risk of injury is extremely low.

But aqua fitness can not only shed pounds, it also improves strength and endurance, so that you have a great whole body workout. Movement in the water has a positive effect on the cardiovascular system and also promotes general well-being.

Overweight people feel very comfortable in the water, because the body is experienced as being much lighter, so that sporting exercises are also much easier to perform. Aqua fitness is also a lot of fun, especially in a group.

Studies have since shown that the immune system is strengthened by aqua fitness and that respiratory problems are much less common. The movements in the water also tighten the fabric, which of course, benefits the silhouette.

How do you train optimally?

Basically, you should train three times a week for 45 minutes, then the first results can be seen after a few weeks. If you train in deep water, a buoyancy belt is put on so that you can move your arms and legs freely; this is the case with aqua jogging, for example.

You train in water that is 26 to 30 degrees Celsius. If the water is colder, muscle cramps can quickly occur, but if it is too warm, heat could build up as a result, which puts a strain on the heart and circulation.

There are different types of aqua sports

  • Aqua-Robic, so to speak, aerobics in the water, is very popular with women. The training is done with lively music, which increases the fun even more. With the Aqua-Robic, you can train every muscle group, but endurance is also improved.
  • The resistance of the water makes the training even more intense. Often rubber dumbbells are still used, or swimming noodles or swimming boards are used in order to have as wide a range of exercises as possible. If you have problems with your heart or blood pressure, please consult a doctor first!
  • During aqua jogging, the feet have no contact with the ground, which is why a special buoyancy belt is used. As with normal jogging, you can burn fat particularly well and train your endurance at the same time. In addition, the muscles are strengthened, and the tissues tightened.
  • Aqua-walking is a little slower and more leisurely, with your feet also touching the bottom of the pool. This variant is particularly suitable for people with knee and hip problems, beginners, and non-swimmers.
  • In aqua biking, you sit on a kind of ergometer, which is, however, underwater. This form of aqua fitness also burns fat particularly well, because the trainer always sets different speeds. The water resistance makes the training even more intense and strengthens the leg muscles.
