The Apple Watch drop detection feature was introduced into the Apple Watch Series 4 as part of Apple’s commitment to your health and wellness. Tightly integrated with your iPhone, Apple Watch detects a heavy drop, alerts you with a vibrating wrist tap and makes an alarm. You can choose to contact local emergency services or disable the alarm by pressing the watch’s digital crown and tapping. close In the upper-left corner or tap the file. I’m fine Button. Fall detection only works with Apple Watch Series 4 and Series 5.

If the watch records movement after a fall, it waits for you to respond and does not automatically call emergency services. After a minute, if the device detects no movement after you fall, it will automatically call an ambulance. The watch dials your local ambulance service and plays an audio message to notify you of the fall while sharing your location.
When the call is over, the watch can send a message to the emergency contact you designated from your Medical ID, along with location information to notify friends or family of the fall and seek help. For locations with multiple emergency services, the watch will dial an ambulance number.
As this feature is especially useful for the elderly or the vulnerable who may be alone for extended periods of time, anyone 55 and older, and this will be reflected in the Apple Health app, the detection feature is enabled.
